A few days before, she had given birth to a baby girl, and was under the care of a nurse. At an early hour Saturday morning, she was missed from the house, having gotten out of bed unnoticed, and when search was made for her, she was found drowned in a large watering tank in the yard. The supposition is that in a period of delerium brought on by a high fever, she left the house and either accidentally or deliberately fell into the tank.
She was born in Fillmore County, November 7, 1895, and died at the age of 28 years, 7 months and 7 days. She leaves surviving her, the husband, John Sluka; her father, Cyril Bernasek; two daughters, Mildred and Evelyn; three brothers, Cyril, James and Emil; one sister, Mrs. Albina Fujan. The body was interred in the Bohemian National Cemetery Monday afternoon in the presence of a very large number of her friends and neighbors. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family in their hour of distress.
