Jennie C. Hugos was born Aug. 28, 1899 on a farm in Deuel County near Toronto, SD. When Jennie was 1 1/2 years old her mother died and she was raised by her grandparents, Jacob and Kari Hugos. Her grandfather died when she was 16 and for the next 2 years, she lived with her aunts.

After her marriage to Hjalmer A. Erickson, they farmed in the Toronto-Astoria area until retiring to Sioux Falls in 1947.

Jennie worked in area cafes and cared for elderly people in their homes for many years. She was a loving mother and Christian example to her 9 children.

Grateful for having shared her life are 2 sons, Hiram, Toronto, SD and Amos, Sioux Falls; 7 daughters; Mrs. Orvid (Doris) Rolfson, Sioux Falls, Amy Hannum, North Hollywood, CA., Mrs. Ernest (Bernice) Thompson, Sioux Falls, Mrs. Donald (Mavis) Wildeboer, Sioux Falls, Mrs. Franklin (Di Ann) Klinghagen, Lennox, SD, Mrs. Bert (Betty) Lambert, Walnut, CA and Mrs. Bill (Janice) Madden, La Mirada, CA; 27 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Hjalmer, on Nov. 13, 1979; and 1 son, Norris, Aug. 26, 1944.
