Most likely Edith was born in Westfield, Fayette, Iowa, United States. At the age of 9 her family moved to a homestead in Burdett, Colorado. At the age of 19 she married John Skelton Shackley, whose family lived nearby. Her five children was born there with the first coming at age 20. The graves of all five children are linked.
At the age of about 45 she and her family moved to Arvada CO [the move occurred sometime prior to Aug. 1920, when her father died], where she lived until she died at age 73.
One of her granddaughters still lives in Arvada, some more than 90 years later.
