Local Deaths
Henry Skorupa, 77, formerly of Ogallala, died Monday morning at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island. Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ashton. The Rev. Anthony Figlerski will officiate. Burial will be in Ashton Cemetery with military rites by Ashton American Legion Post No. 108. Visitation will be...at Loup City Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Skorupa was born Oct. 17, 1900, at Tarnov, the son of Michael and Mary Bogus Skorupa. When he was young he moved with his family to the Ashton area and received his education in the Paplin schools. Mr. Skorupa was a veteran of World War I. For many years he farmed in the Ogallala area. For the last two years he lived at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island.
Survivors include two brothers, Alois of Omaha and Ted of Ashton; two sisters, Sister Adell of Chicago, Ill., and Bernice Skorupa of Ashton. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
