Arthur Charles Foster, Sr.,65, of Petoskey,died August 20, 2002, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Harbor Springs. The Rev. Frank Kordek will officiate and burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
Art was born Dec. 2, 1936, in Petoskey, the son of Joseph and Jennie (Griffin) Foster. He grew up in Petoskey and attended school at St Francis Catholic School.
On Oct. 10, 1959, he married Carol Stark in Petoskey.
Art served in the U.S. Army as military police for three years in Arlington Hall, Va. From there he returned to Petoskey, where he served on the Petoskey Police Department. he then worked for 40 years as general manager of Northern News Co., and other capacities of the Scherer family.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends at his cabin.
Art was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Petoskey-Bay View Country Club and past member of St. Francis School Board.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol; sons, Arthur Foster Jr., and his wife,Mary Lynn, of Columbus,Ohio, Mark Foster and his wife ,Kim, of Jackson; daughter, Teresa Foster of Petoskey; grandchildren, Michael, Art III, Logan, Allison,Nicholas, Jacob; brothers, John Foster, James Foster and wife, Fran, Leo Foster, Andrew Foster and wife, Betty; sisters, Patricia Winters and husband, Lewis, and Margaret Pennell.
Art was prededed in death by his parents and sister, Agnes Grisby.
Contributions in memory at Art may be made to Holy Childhood Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, where friends may call from 2-4 p.m and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug 23. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
