Jackson Native Was 82;
Service Held At Sugarfork
Mrs. Dollie Jennings Gibson, widow of Ben H. Gibson, died July 30 at her home in the Cullasaja community at the age of 82. She had been ill a year.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gibson, a native of Jackson County, were conducted the following afternoon at the Sugarfork Baptist Church of which she was a member. Officiating were the Rev. Fred Sorrells and the Rev. Rufus Fingers. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Lex Angel, Jr., Bobby Angel, Bobby Gibson, Charles Gibson, Jr., Lex Gibson, and Carl Angel.
Mrs. Gibson was born May 13, 1877, the daughter of Jim and Mrs. Elizabeth Mashburn Jennings. She and Mr. Gibson were married in 1897. He died Nov. 11, 1949.
Surviving are five sons, Charles and Dock Gibson, both of Andrews, and Wymer, John, and Gordon Gibson, all of Route 5; three daughters, Miss Ethel Gibson of the home, Mrs. Lex Angel and Mrs. Fred Angel, both of Route 5; two half-brothers, Hobart and Everett Jennings, both of Castle Rock, Wash.; a half-sister, Mrs. Mae Evitt, also of Castle Rock; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bryant Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
