HOWARD — Doyal Linbergh Baker, 79, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, of a long illness at the Morning View Care Center.
He was born May 30, 1927, in Knox County to Edward Valentine and Hazel Elveda (Smith) Baker. Doyal served in the Navy from 1945 to 1946. He was a member of the Howard Church of Christ.
He is survived by his second wife of 35 years, Mary Baker, whom he married April 15, 1971; a daughter, Connie (Carl) Biggs; a son, Thomas (Karen) Baker; and stepchildren, Sarah Thompson, John (Candice) Hunt, Charles (Sharon) Hunt, Patricia (Miklos) Dudevszky; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leota (Conkle); his parents; and two sisters, Betheal McFarland and JoAnn Biggs.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Pastor Ben McKinstry will officiate. Burial will be in Workman Cemetery. Calling hours will be one hour prior to service on Tuesday.
