MORRIS TRIBUNE: Friday Dec. 13 1957: 'OBSERVE 45TH ANNIVERSARY'
"Mr & Mrs Luke Rowles observed their forty-fifth wedding anniversary at an open house in the Hancock village hall Nov. 24 with a host of friends, neighbors and relatives extending the honored couple best wishes of the day.
"Musical numbers were interspersed in the afternoon's program and they were furnished by Mrs Vern Venner [Pat Mecklenburg] and her son and daughter of St. Cloud, oldest granddaughter and great-grandchildren of the Rowles; Howard Pearson and his mother and Jean Ferry of Benson. The history of the family was brought out through the media of a family tree with each generation depicted by paper dolls.
"Centering the table was a huge wedding cake which was cut by Mrs August Mecklenburg of Morris while Peggy Rowles poured. Judy Kraayenbrink of Ortonville, a granddaughter of Mr & Mrs Rowles, was in charge of the guest book.
"Mr & Mrs Rowles were married in Minneapolis on Nov 19, 1912, and have made their home in the Hancock community since that time.
"Children of Mr & Mrs Rowles are Mrs. Bill (Mary) Neinaber, San Diego, Calif., Mrs August (Kate) Mecklenburg, Morris; Mrs Russell (Irene) Sullivan, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs Jack (Margaret) Kraayenbrink, Ortonville; Mrs Ervin (Madonna) Moser; John Rowles and Mrs Lawrence (Delores) Greiner, all of Hancock."
