MORRIS TRIBUNE, JUNE 6 1967: "Services to be Today for Former Resident of Area
" Funeral Rites for George Joseph Rowles, former resident of Horton township, will be held in Assumption Church in Morris this morning (Tuesday) at 10 o'clock.
"Monsignor B. Petermeier will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Morris. Pallbearers will be Ray Leuthard, George Leuthard, Harold Buckley, Ray Lewis, Emil Hoffman, and Walter Berens.
" Mr. Rowles, 79 years of age, passed away suddenly on Saturday at the Mobridge Community Hospital in Mobridge, SD.
"George Joseph Rowles was born October 13, 1887, in Horton township, son of the late Mr. and Mrs John Rowles. He grew up in that community and later homesteaded at Isabelle, SD. He then moved to Devils Lake, ND where he worked for Otter Tail Power Company. He later moved to Rapid City, SD where he was employed as an electrician at the air base.
"About ten years ago, Mr. Rowles retired and moved to Mobridge, SD, where he lived to the present time. He never married.
"He served in World War I with the army in France. He was a member of the Catholic Church in Mobridge.
"Deceased is survived by three brothers, Luke and Bernie of Hancock, and Clarence of Milwaukee, Wis.; by one sister, Mary Rowles of San Francisco, Calif., and by several nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
