Mrs. Adeline Powell, wife of John A. Powell at her home in this city, Friday evening, August 30, 1918, at 10 o'clock, aged 59 years, 9 months, and 29 days. Deceased had been in failing health for some time and several weeks ago the family realized that she was in a very severe condition. A trained nurse was secured and everything possible was done to restore the patient to her health but all the long ministrations were in vain and she fell asleep to waken in the better land. Adeline Adams was born, October 3, 1858, near Grange City, Fleming County, Kentucky, and was united in marriage to John A. Powell October 19, 1875. Several years ago the family came to Illinois and has since made their home in and near this city. Mrs. Powell was a member of the Christian Church. She united with the church in Fair View, Kentucky, in 1881, and was ever a faithful member. She is survived by her husband, John A. Powell; 4 sons, William, Everett and Amos, of Athens, and Joseph of near Cantrall; 2 daughters Mrs. Susan Stone of near Middletown, and Mrs. Minerva Bennett of this city, and brother John Adams of Mason City; one sister, Mrs. Delila Lewis of Potomac, Illinois; eighteen grandchildren and many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the family residence, Sunday morning, September 1st, at 10 o'clock, Reverend C.F. M'Kown officiating. Interment was made at Hall cemetery.
