OBITUARY
WILLIAM ADAMS PASSES AWAY - William Adams was born in Fleming county, Ky., April 22, 1831; died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. D. Estill, near Sweetwater, May 3, 1918, aged 87 years, 11 days.
In 1862 he was married to Nancy Eden. To this union were born seven children, Thomas, the eldest, died at the age of eighteen years. Those living are Mrs. S. D. Estill and Miss Bessie Adams, Sweetwater; Mrs. J. C. Yates and Mrs. Charles Zinn, Humeston, Iowa; J. W. Adams, Keller, Texas; and E. L. Adams, Seattle, Washington. These with one half brother, John Adams of Greenview, thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren mourn his departure.
Mr. Adams served as a soldier in the Union Army in the Civil War in Co. D, 24th Ky. Vol. Inf. He came to this state 32 years ago and has since lived in this community where he died. He was a peace, honest, industrious man and well respected.
Funeral services were held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. D. Estill Sunday afternoon, May 5, conducted by Elder C. E. Smoot, assisted by Elder Bass of Sweetwater Christian Church. Burial in the Sugar Grove cemetery.
