Lissie S. Thomas David, 85, formerly of Kissee Mills, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006 at Point Lookout Nursing and Rehab in Point Lookout.
She was born March 6, 1921 the daughter of John Mitchell and Ethel May (Kissee) Thomas in Kissee Mills.
Lissie was a lifelong resident of Taney County. She was a graduate of the first Burge School of Nursing class in Springfield in 1943. She served in the U.S. Army as 1st Lieutenant at Rhineland Central Europe where she worked in the 119th evacuation hospital during World War II.
She was united in marriage on Dec 1, 1945 Byron David in Kissee Mills. After many years of service she retired from the Taney County Health Department in 1986.
Survivors include her husband Byron of Point Lookout, two sons Mitchell "Tom" and William "Bill," both of Kissee Mills, and a daughter Anna Marie David, of Springfield, three grandchildren, and two sisters Murial Roberts and Margarete Workman, both of Kissee Mills.
Preceding Lissie in death were her parents, seven siblings, Norene Addington, Mary Scott, Harold Thomas, Cordelia Roberts, Adam Thomas, Billy Tomas(Thomas) and Zena May Arnold.
Services were Friday, Sept. 1 at the Riverview Bible Baptist Church in Forsyth. Burial followed in the Kissee Mills Cemetery with full Military honors.
Arrangements were under the direction of Whelchel Funeral Chapels, Forsyth.
