William E. Newman

William E. Newman, 73, of Rt. 4, Clarksburg, died at 6:50 p.m. Monday, April 18, in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg, following a brief illness.

He was born at Wetzel County, March 15, 1915, a son of the late James Ward and Rozena Tharp Newman.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Swiger Newman, whom he married Jan. 22, 1945.

Also surviving are two sons, Everett Eugene Newman, Fairbanks, Alaska and Dannie Dwayne Newman, Clarksburg; one grandson, William Carl Newman.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family being preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Newman was Protestant and a retired co-owner of Newman Coal Company. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U. S. Army.
