In 1871 the family moved to Brooklyn, Iowa. He was united in marrage in 1889 to Ida McGinley. To this union two children were born.
The family home was near Brooklyn until 1906 when they moved to a farm north of Belle Plaine, Iowa where they resided until the death of Mrs Miller 14 months ago.
John was struck by an automobile on the 17 of September in Muscatine, Iowa and was quite seriously injured and suffered greatly from shock. He was making his home with his daughter Shirley Custar at the time. On November 17 he was brought to the home of his brother, Frank Miller, for a visit where he caught a severe cold which resulted in the cause of his death.
He is survived by his daughter Shirley Custer and his son Fred Miller both of Muscatine, Iowa.
