OCEAN SPRINGS --- Mrs. Mattie M. McPherson, 74, died Monday, may 13, 2002, in Ocean Springs, MS.
Mrs. McPherson was born in Magee, MS and had been a resident of Ocean Springs, MS since 1946. She was a member of the Ocean Springs Chapter 394, Order of the Eastern Star, Southern Pines Garden Club, the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Ocean Springs Hospital Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs. She retired from South Central Bell after 30 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McPherson; her parents, Lessie and Elizabeth Martin; two brothers, B.A. Martin and Herman Martin; a sister, Myrtle Bradford; and a son-in-law, Robert L. Townsend.
She is survived by two daughters, Jackie M. Kilpatrick and husband, Mike, of Ocean Springs and Susan M. Townsend of Ocean Springs, MS; a sister, Bobbie Rae Barnard of Magee, MS; three brothers, Ulysses Martin of Magee, Tillman Martin and Joe Martin, both of Jackson, MS; six grandsons, Jason Kilpatrick of Ocean Springs, Jeremy Kilpatrick of Ocean Springs, Joshua Kilpatrick of Dallas, TX, Ashley Townsend of Norfolk, VA, Adam Townsend of Ocean Springs and Austin Townsend of Ocean Springs; and three great-grandchildren, Saxon, Ethan and Erin Kilpatrick.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2002, from 6-9 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes with a 7 p.m. service by the Order of Eastern Star.
On Thursday, May 16, 2002, there will be a 10 a.m. chapel service at the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
