Funeral services for Herman U. Martin of Rt. 4, Mendenhall, were held Friday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. from the Mims Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Layton, Rev. Frank Jones and Rev. Elton Moore officiating. Interment was in the Magee Cemetery with Mims Mitchell Funeral Home in charge.

Martin, 47 years old, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson. He was a disabled veteran of World War II, a native of Smith County and was residing in the Athens community. He was a member of Athens Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Doris Martin of Rt. 4, Mendenhall, two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Martin of Jackson and Mrs. Catherine Underwood of Rt. 4, Mendenhall; his father, Mr. Lessie Martin of Jackson; four brothers, Bound Martin of Irvin, Texas, Tilman Martin , Joe Martin, both of Jackson, and Ulynesses [sic] Martin of Magee; and three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Bradford of Gulfport, Mrs. Mattie McPherson of Ocean Springs and Mrs. Bobbie Barnard of Magee.
