One of Wilton's pioneer women, Mrs. Caroline
Maurer, died Monday at 10:00 p.m. at
Bellevue hospital in Muscatine after a
5 1/2 year illness.
Funeral services will be held for Mrs.
Maurer, who was 91, at the Griffith
Funeral home at 2:00 p.m. today, (thursday).
The Rev. Robert Dodder of the Methodist
church will officiate Organ music will
be played by Mrs. Harry Birkhofer.
Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery.

Caroline Fisch Maurer was born Dec. 7,
1865, the daughter of Michael and Eva
Lang Fisch, in Moscow township. She
was a lifetime resident of this community.
She was married to Fred A. Maurer in 1888.
She was a member of the Wilton Presbyterian
church, Order of Eastern Star, Legion
Auxiliary, Women's Relief Corps, Wilton
Women's Club and Wilton Garden Club.
She is survived by two grandchildren,
Mrs. Gus Heinrich, Wilton, Kenneth D.
Kelley, Moscow and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband;
one son, Elmer F.; two daughters, Pearle L.
Kelley and Myra Maurer; three sisters
and two brothers.
