Our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Celestia Geneva Frost, age 96, of Roosevelt, Utah, passed away peacefully in her home on April 29, 2000. She was born April 14, 1904 in Benson, Cache County, Utah to Anders Peter Frost and Rebecca Jorgensen Frost.

Geneva married John Alma Gilbert in the Salt Lake Temple on June 29, 1927. John passed away December 9, 1975 in Provo, Utah. After they were married they moved to Arcadia, Utah in the Uintah Basin where they homesteaded. Geneva's practical nurse's training served this small rural community well, as she assisted in the delivery of babies, prepared the dead for burial, and helped in many other ways.

The family eventually moved to Tooele, Utah where they owned and operated a hardware store, Gamble's. In 1944, they moved to Roosevelt, established and operated another Gamble Store. After several years there, they moved to Arcadia for two years, then to Duchesne, Utah where they purchased the Polar Queen, an ice cream drive-in. While living in Duchesne Geneva was chosen as Uintah Basin Mother of the Year. Another move was made to Provo, Utah where they purchased a home and retired.

Geneva was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many leadership and teaching positions. She served for 15 years in the Provo Temple and served a mission with her husband in the Kentucky-Tennessee mission.

Throughout her life, Geneva loved helping people in any way she could, always putting others first. As she takes this next step in her eternal progression, she will see many of those whose lives she has touched. She is admired, respected and loved greatly by her posterity.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild and three great-grandchildren. She is survived by eight children: Byron (Emma Rae) Gilbert, Renae (Lyn) Miller, Maurine (Arvin) Bellon, Shauna Gilbert, Sherrie (Charles H.) Burdick, Jack Frost (Sally) Gilbert, Jean (Richard) Carlson, and Tenna Ruth (Kitt) Herman; 55 grandchildren 110 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at 11:30am in the Roosevelt West Stake Center, 150 Skyline Drive (Lagoon Street and 800 West). Friends may call at the Hullinger-Olpin Mortuary in Roosevelt on Tuesday from 6-8pm, and Wednesday from 10-11:15 prior to the service. Interment will take place in the Roosevelt Cemetery.

Geneva was a wonderful Grandmother. Headstrong, righteous and a lot of fun. She always had great stories to tell to everyone in our family. No one left her house hungry and unaccommodated. She had eight fantastic children with husband John. She also co-owned the Gambles store in Roosevelt. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
