Obituary: Peter Ivan Frost
Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) | 7 May 2000
Peter Ivan Frost, 92, died Friday May 5, 2000.
He was born in Benson Ward, Utah on January 1, 1908 to Anders Peter and Rebecca Hansine Jorgensen. Shortly after, the family moved to Salt Lake City for about four years. He then moved to Oakley, Utah with his parents where he had some adventures that he told his children and grandchildren of for years. He went with his father on trips to the Uintah Basin to take and bring back the cattle from pasture. He also accompanied him on Raleigh sales trips on a horse drawn wagon.

He met Edith Naomi Hamilton while he was a student/school bus driver and when she caused problems he had her sit by him to keep the peace. They enjoyed that close contact so much that they married on June 27, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Prior to their marriage he attended Utah State Agricultural College majoring in dairy science. He followed his professor to Weber Central Dairy where he worked for about 17 years. Ivan and Edith purchased a small grocery store at 40th and Adams in South Ogden, where they worked together for 24 years. They lived by their motto, "Where Friends Meet" and enjoyed the experience of meeting with their customers and being part of their lives.
He and Edith worked as ordinance workers for 12 years being part of the first group to open the Ogden Temple. He has served in the bishopric, as a gospel doctrine teacher, finance clerk and many positions in the 14th ward. Edith died March 9, 1989. He was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter'day Saints, a gentle and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who had an infectious sense of humor which touched all who knew him. His loyalties lay with his family, church, community and country.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters, Uana Lu and Bob Tucker, Washington Terrace, Ray and Barbara Frost, Bear River City, Brent and Shirley Frost, South Ogden, Carolyn and Charles Evans, Bountiful, Norm and Sue Frost, Ogden; 26 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and sister, Vesta Boyer. He was preceded in death by five sisters; one brother; and one great-granddaughter.

He enjoyed his many friends during his stay at the Harrison Regent. The family gives thanks to Dr. Richard Arbogast who has provided great support to Dad over the years. The family has appreciated the staff of the Transitional Care Unit of the McKay Hospital who have shown great compassion and caring in his treatment.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2000 at South Ogden First Ward Chapel (formerly the South Ogden 14th Ward, 3755 Porter in So. Ogden), with Bishop Richard Singleton, officiating. Friends may call Monday May 8, 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, and Tuesday May 9, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment Aultorest Memorial Park.
