Maurine Gilbert Bellon
May 7, 1933 — March 27, 2023
Orem, Utah

Maurine Gilbert Bellon passed peacefully on Monday March 23, 2023. She was born May 7, 1933 to John Alma and Geneva Frost Gilbert, the third of eight children. She grew up in Arcadia, Tooele, and Roosevelt.
After attending BYU, Maurine met Arvin Bellon while they both worked for the movie theatre. They married January 21,1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their home was blessed with six children which they raised in the close knit community of Roosevelt. They served a mission in Wisconsin from 1994-1997, and spent the past 19 years in Utah County.
Maurine had a vibrant countenance and a caring heart. She created a home full of love and laughter. She became skilled in cooking, baking, sewing, quilting and crocheting, with frequent recognition for her achievements.
Because Maurine looked at the world through a positive lens, she regularly saw the best in everyone. She was not one to judge, but to love others and seek to understand and help them. Mom seemed to have a sixth sense for those who needed a boost or a kind word. Everyone that spent time with her came away feeling uplifted, loved and valued.
We gained a love of music through Mom. She saw to it that we learned to play musical instruments. We grew up to the early morning sounds of Bach, Beethoven or Chopin as each child took their turn practicing. There were frequent rehearsals for various musical groups, and competitions. The house vibrated with music most of the time.
Mom taught us to look for and appreciate beauty in Nature. We had unending opportunity to spend time in the great outdoors through camping, fishing, quick meals in the canyon, and the variety of seasonal scenery on the many trips back and forth to Provo and Salt Lake.
Maurine was a great story teller, and talented writer, and instilled in us a love for the written word. She could bring any story to life as she read it. The laughter and tears born from the reading of stories continued to include the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mom was first and foremost a Homemaker. But she also worked for a time at Todd Elementary. She was the Demonstration Expert for Rhodes Rolls, worked for a time in the Sears Catalog Store, and was a distributor of Cosmetics, Jewelry, Wheat Grinders and Braun Bread Mixers. She taught many people the skills she had learned as a homemaker.

Maurine believed in living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not only in word but in action. She mirrored the love of the Savior as she quietly went about doing good. Mom was no stranger to heartaches, but carried on with grace and determination. She knew her faith would carry her back to the presence of her Savior and she found peace in that knowledge.
Even as Dementia and then Alzheimer's took away her memory, Maurine met you with joy, open arms and a large smile. She loved with all that was in her, and this is her legacy. Her dedication as a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was inspiring. The lessons we learned from her will resonate through the generation of our family.
The family includes her children, Becky (Stewart Morrill, deceased; Jerry Smith), Jan (Roger Loren Mulligan), Brent (deceased), Sheri (Michael Peterson, deceased), Greg (Marlena Spencer), and Gary. There are 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mom loves everyone but has a special spot for babies and young children. Even as her memory faded, children made her world turn and her eyes light up with pure joy
Services will be held Monday, April 3, 7:00 pm at the LDS Chapel, 828 West 1600 North, Orem, Utah. Viewing and visiting 5:00 - 6:45 pm. Viewing in Roosevelt at Hullinger Mortuary, Tuesday April 4, 11:30 am -12:30 pm.
Interment in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
