The 1875 census states residence: Borsheim Indre, farm no: 105, resident #: 33.. This farm was ran by Erik and they had 1 horse, 3 cattle, 8 sheep, 1 pig.. they also raised oats and potatoes.
Erik and Martha's second child, Johannes, was born: 5 Dec. 1875, but died: 12 Dec. 1875, and buried: 18 Dec. 1875. Complications occured, and Martha, age 24, died 13 Jan. 1876; buried: 21 Jan. 1876. Erik remarried 14 June 1878 to Botilde Iversdatter (Borsheim). Botilde was born: 22 Sept. 1856. Botilde and Erick had eight children:
