Elling Knutson Loken married Astrid Eiriksdtr. Loken , in Aal, Hallingdal, Norway on: 20 April 1869. To this union, 8 children were born in Norway, but 5 of the children died in infancy: Anne, died September 12, 1870, Erik, died April 12, 1877, Erik, died August 20, 1878, Guri, died April 9, 1880, and Erik died May 2, 1881.
On the 7th of April 1886, Elling, Astrid, and three children departed Norway, and came to America. The children: Anna, born: 15 December 1871, Knute, born: 30 July 1874 and Gurine, born: 26 July 1883, came with their parents to MN, and lived on the farm west of Knute Ronningen's farm in Roscoe township. *(Knute Ronningen was the nephew of Elling Loken. Elling's sister Guri, and her husband, Ole Larson Ronningen, had come to America in 1866).
At the time of Elling's death on November 1, 1910, he was survived by his wife, Astrid; daughter, Gurine (Erick) Thompson, and three granddaughters: Clara, Martha and Elma Thompson.
