The next year Betty was born and she died at birth and is buried in her Stark grandparents plot in Kasson, Minnesota. The family took a train ride to their next home in Waukegan,Illinois where Fred worked at a lumberyard and farmed. Joyce and Mildred were born in Illinois.
In March 1926 Fred sold out in Illinois, bought land, sight unseen from a real estate salesman, and moved the family to Amberg, Wisconsin. By that time Fred's parents had moved to Beaverton, Michigan. Their family grew to include Helen, Leon, Arold who died as an infant, twins Arleen (lived) and Irene (died) and the last child Duane all born in Wisconsin.
Fred farmed, milked cows, bought more land and prospered. He was known as a good dairyman, eventually son, Leon bought the farm and worked the land for many years. He was a charter member of the Amberg Granite Grange and White Rapids Church. He served on the town board for 14 years.
Fred died of a heart attack at age 70 on August 30, 1960 at Marinette General Hospital. The large family of children and grandchildren with a host of friends paid their respects at the funeral. He was buried in the Amberg Cemetery.
