Eugene Louis Lamon

Funeral for Eugene Louis Lamon, 85, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m, at Central Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Bush and the Rev. Steve Bateman officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and one hour before the service at the church.

Mr. Lamon died Sunday, November 10, 2002, at his home. He was born April 23, 1917, in Morgan to John Louis Lamon and Carrie Jane Norwood Lamon. He was a superintendent at Alabama Flour Mill and retired from Sequoyia Building Supplies. He was a charter member of Central Park Baptist Church, formerly Westside Baptist Church, and served in many leadership roles during his 52 years of membership. For 42 years, he raised and judged domestic rabbits and was inducted into the American Rabbit Breeders Association Hall of Fame in 2002. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the widower of Sarah Louise Walden Lamon and brother of the late James Paul Lamon.

Survivors include one son, Eugene Wayne Lamon of Huntsville; one daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" Brown of Decatur; two sisters, Lucille Matthews and Gertrude Braswell, both of Decatur; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Matthews, Bobby Matthews, Ronald Green, Don McLemore and Joe McDaniel.
