Warrensburg - Edith D. "Edie" Baker, 75, of Schroon River Road, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 21, 2011 at her daughter's home in Tarpon Springs, Fla.
Born June 1, 1935 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Burton and Eva (Granger) Hamblin.
Edie was a lifelong resident of the area and married Bernard H. Baker Sr. on Oct. 23, 1957.
Many will remember Edie working side by side with the late great Max Morehouse at the Warrensburg Stewarts Soup and Sandwich Shop.
Edie was a charter member of the Haskell Brothers Post No. 4821 VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Bernard Baker Sr. passed away on Jan. 22, 2006; one brother, James Hamblin, four sisters, Theora Trombley, Virginia Barber, Barbara Joslin and Rosemary Potter.
Friends may call on Edie's family from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, May 27 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 2 p.m., Friday at the funeral home with James A. Baker Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery.
