SHELBURNE- Leah G. Chitwood,73 of Shelburnewood Dr.,passed away peacefully Jan.9,2013 at her home in Shelburne.
Born May 2,1939,in Fort Ann, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Burton and Eva (Granger) Hamblin. Leah lived in Chittenden County and worked for many years at several different restaurants until 2006 when she joined the Shelburne Supermarket family and was loved by all. Throughout her life she loved talking to people and made many dear friends along the way.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Kevin Wayne Chitwood; one brother James Hamblin; five sisters Edith Baker, Barbara Joslin, Rosemary Potter, Virginia Barber, and Theora Trombley; and special friend Carl Racine of South Burlington.
Survivors include former husband Robert Chitwood of Riverside Calif,; children Terrie Bothfeld and partner Steve Abair, of Essex, Robert "Speedy" Chitwood of Shelburne, and Rick Chitwood of Norma, Tenn; one grand-daughter, Hilary Bothfeld of South Burlington; sisters, Beatrice Ward and Darlene Frye; one brother, Albert "Buster" Hamblin; several nieces, nephews and cousins; along with many dear friends.
