History of Alice Mills Jones Family:

Louisa Jane Scott married William Fisher 22 Oct 1840, Fort Bend county, Texas. There were six children born to this marriage: William H. Jr.(Fannie Bratton), David (Fannie Bratton), Elizabeth Ann, James Vaughn (Francis Jordan), Eliza Jane (James Anderson Standifer), Jeramiah,(John Mabry).

William Fisher is listed as Justice of the Peace for Bastrop County, Texas in 1845.

The 1850 Bastrop County, Texas census shows William H. Fisher age 35 born Ohio; Jane age 26 born Alabama; William age 08 born Texas; David age 06 born Texas; Elizabeth A. age 04 born Texas; James 03 born Texas; Eliza Jane 01 born Texas.

Family hearsay story: William Fisher was killed by Indians about 1853. Louisa Fisher's children are listed on the State School Census.

Louisa Jane Scott Fisher Mills marrried William R. Mills in Bastrop County, Texas 22 August 1855. There are five known children born to this marriage: Lydia A. married B. F. Bratton; Margaret married Andrew Jackson Williams and H. S. Underwood; Martha married Thomas McCright; William Abner married Sallie Catherine Fitzpatrick; Alice married Zinnie Jones.

Listed on the 1860 Burleson County Texas census with her children from the marriage of William Fisher: David Fisher, Elizabeth Fisher, James Fisher, Jane Fisher, Jemminah Fisher and the children of her marriage to William R. Mills: Lydia Mills, Margaret Mills, and Martha Mills.
Two addition children were born during the 1860-1870 decade: W. Abner and Alice Mills.

Last known place of residence was Burleson County, Texas. Confederate Indigent Families Lists of Texas 1863-1865 Volume IV, Central Texas, Burleson County enumerated 26 Feb 1864 lists Jane Mills, Husband Detailed at Austin - 10 dependents. Fisher children: Elizabeth A., James, Eliza Jane, Jemminah; Mills children: Lydia A., Margaret, Martha, William Abner, and Alice plus herself would agree with the 10 dependents.

Alice Mills was the last known child of William R. Mills and Louisa Jane Scott Fisher Mills. The 1870 census enumerating these children has not been located by this writer.

Alice Mills married Z. J. Zina Jones on 26 January 1881 in Bastrop County, Texas, Volume C, Page 420. There were nine children born to this marriage.

Alice Jones, born in Texas, June 1863 is listed on the 1900 Justice Precinct 8, Lee, Texas. Mother of children born: eight (8); six (6) children living, census enumerated 12 June 1900. Household members listed: Zina Jones, age 47; Alice Jones age 35; Joseph Jones age 18; Elias Jones age 17; Ottie Jones age 12; Tom Jones age 09; Otho Jones age 03; Zina Jones 02.

During the decade of 1900-1910 Alice and Zina had one additional son born: Barney. Alice's husband Zina T. and son Elias Tinker Jones died; both buried in Old Knobbs Cemetery, Lee County, Texas.

Alice Jones age 47 is listed on the 1910 Justice Precinct 6, Bastrop, Texas census, listed as widowed ,head of house. Number of Children Born: 9; Number of Children Living: 6. Also listed in the household is Ottie Jones age 22; Tom Jones age 19; Othie Jones age 13; Zma(should read Zina)Jones age 12; and Barney Jones age 08.

Mrs. Zina Jones, Sr. Passes

Mrs. Alice Jones, 72 died at her home in McDade at 2:30 p.m.Tuesday January 22nd after an illness of several months of heart trouble. Born June 11, 1863, daughter of Billy and Liza Mills, (William R. and Louisa Jane Mills) she spent her entire life in Bastrop County.

She was married in 1878 to Mr. Zina Jones and is survived by four sons, Othro, McDade; Ottie, Manor; Zina, Henderson and Barney, Elgin; one brother Ab Mills, Bastrop; and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Underwood, Carmine; Mrs. Martha MdCright, Elgin, and Mrs. Dolly Mabry, Austin.

Mrs. Jones was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, were held at the Oak Hill Cemetery where burial took place with Rev. Luther Norman officiating assisted by Rev. Ben Holland, Austin.

Friends and relatives who attended the funeral from out-of-town were Mr. Ab. Mills, Mrs. Mollie Holmes, Bastrop; Mrs. Margaret Underwood, Carmine; Mr. and Mrs. Zina Jones, Henderson, Mr. Ottie Jones, Manor; Mr. and Mrs. Shelly Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. Jonse Jones, Buda; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Jones, Elgin; Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Williams, Mrs. Lulu Mertz, Mrs., Edith Mertz, Burton; Mrs. R. O. Cooper, Mrs. Harry Tidwell, Smithville, and others whose names we were unable to get.
