Variable dates for Abner Mills' birth exist between census, death certificate and headstone.

William Abner Mills was the only known son of the second marriage of Louisa Jane Scott Fisher Mills and William R. Mills who married in Bastrop County, Texas 22 August 1855. Mills siblings are: Lydia A. Mills Branton 1856-?; Margaret "Maggie" Mills Williams 10 Mar 1857-16 Feb 1940; Martha "Mattie" Mills McCright 1859-27 Dec 1943; Alice Mills Jones 11 Jun 1863-23 Jan 1935 (buried near Abner).

A hand-me-down story of Abner Mills as told to me by Butch Duncan that had been told by his father, Newell Duncan (son of Lee and James Wesley) was "Ole Uncle Ab could play a harmonica/french harp"; when he played "The Fox and the Hounds" it would take an hour to catch the pups - meaning he played it well.
