OBITUARY - AKRON, Ohio - Mrs. Gertrude M. Squires, 94, died September 5, 1989, after a short illness. She was born in Newville, WV on March 17, 1895, a daughter of the late Jesse and Nancy Bright Skidmore. She had been a resident of Akron for 72 years. Mrs. Squires was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Akron. She is survived by daughters, Evelyn S. Elliott of Holiday, Fla.; Mary Jane Stout of Akron, Ohio; son, William G. Squires of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. 14 grandchildren and 15 freat-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Herbert H. Squires; sons, Harold H. and Robert V. Squires. Mrs. Squires was the last surviving member of the eleven children of Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Skidmore. Brothers and sisters who preceded her were Cam, Cleve, Russ, Walter, Elizabeth Cutlip, Lona Ware, Nancy McCartney, Opal Ratcliff, Percy and Ruth Green. Friends may call at the McGowan-Reid and Santas Funeral Home in Akron where services were held Saturday, September 9, 1989, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Douglas B. Denton officiating.
