Dudley Monroe Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Allen, was born October 8, 1860 at Chagrin Falls, O., and died May 10, 1950, at Morganville, Kan., at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 2 days.

He moved with his parents when he was 10 years old to Iowa, locating near Des Moines where he grew to manhood. In 1884 he again moved with his parents and located in Washington county, Kansas, near Haddam.

Mr. Allen chose teaching as his profession for a number of years and taught in several of the rural schools of the Haddam community, making many acquaintances and life-long friends.

He was united in marriage, February 28, 1886, to Jessie Alice Jamison. They made their home on a farm south of Haddam until the last 14 years which were spent in Haddam. To this union were born four children, Clarence LeRoy of Clifton, Burt Monroe, Edna C. Teeter and Lloyd Pierce, all of Haddam.

In 1939 he professed his faith in God and joined the Haddam Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two children, who died in infancy; three sisters and one brother. Four children, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Genie Milliken of Frankfort survive him.

He was a kind and loving father, a good neighbor and a steadfast friend.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, at the Haddam Methodist church with the Rev. J. F. Damon in charge. Interment was in Haddam cemetery.
