After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's and Dementia, Mrs. Betty Jean Booth Hope, 87, of Brunswick, Georgia, left this earthly realm to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of Thursday, February 23, 2023. Ms. Betty was undoubtedly met by her husband, Samuel "Sammy" Leffler Hope, as she passed over. Ms. Betty was a lifelong member of the Pine Haven Baptist Church in Brunswick, Georgia and taught Sunday School for over 30 years to hundreds of children. She was a devout Baptist, a great cook, a shopper and  a lady who never knew a stranger, but was quick to share whatever thought was on her mind. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Manning Booth, and mother, Florence Galbreath Booth; son, Gregory Hope; and daughter, Sandra Hope Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Hope (Robert) Strickland of Waverly; grandchildren, Joshua Strickland of Waverly and Hope Herndon of Brunswick; and great-grandchildren, Natalie Strickland, Cason Herndon, and Carter Herndon; and sister, Sara Hitchcock of Vidalia, Ga.; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She will be laid to rest during a graveside service 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Union Cemetery in Jesup, Ga. with Rev. Josh May officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Strickland, Joshua Strickland, Clint Loomis, Johnny and Sylvia Smith, Lorraine and Tinker Horne, Debbie Crawford, and Ann Plows.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery.
