Funeral services for Fred G Buchholtz, 83, were held on Friday, March 4, 1994 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Wyoming with the Rev. David Guetzke officiating. Burial was held in the Wyoming Cemetery.
Fred G Buchholtz of Wyoming died on Wednesday, March 2, 1994 at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa. He was born on January 30, 1911 near Wyoming, the son of John and Lena Fiedler Buchholtz. He received his education in the Wyoming schools and graduated from Wyoming High School.
On October 7, 1932, he married Elsie Bahnsen in Wyoming. The couple began farming in the Jones County area. In 1944, they moved to Monmouth and he continued to farm. In 1955, Buchholtz purchased the Kent Feed Business in Wyoming and also began Buchholtz and Sons Trucking Company. In 1960, he sold the trucking business to his son, Don, and continued the feed business until he sold it in September 1961. In 1963, he purchased a farm on the north edge of Wyoming, now part of the Little Bear County Club. In 1965, he purchased a farm west of Wyoming and continued farming until his retirement in the early 1980s. His wife died in October of 1971.
Mr. Buchholtz was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Wyoming and had served on the Wyoming Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors included two sons, Donald of Wyoming and Daryl of Swaledale; one daughter, Diane (Mrs. Donald) Carstensen of Wyoming; six grandchildren and three great greandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Hayden Funerl Homes, Wyoming, was in charge of the arrangements.
