Born Oct. 26, 1919, in Havice Valley, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Herbert C. and Amanda (Romig) Wagner.
His wife, Ethel I. (Boyer) Wagner, whom he married Sept. 21, 1939, survives. Also surviving are: three sons and three daughters, Marian Booher and her husband William, Wayne Wagner and his wife Mary, and Susan Rickenbaugh and her husband Ronald, all of Mifflintown RR2, Donald Wagner and his wife Connie, McAllen, TX, Carl Wagner and his wife Elaine, Richfield RR1, Debra Butcosk and her husband Luke, Kreamer; two sisters, Ruth P. Shank, Lewistown and Rachael R. Sauers, Levittown; two brothers, John E. "Eddie" Wagner, Mifflintown RR1 and Benjamin W. Wagner, Thompsontown RR1; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George W. Wagner and James L. Wagner; three sisters, Miriam L. Henry, Ada M. Bashore and Esther A. Ferrell; and two grandchildren, Holly Sue Rickenbaugh and Thomas C. Wagner.
He was a farmer. He was a member of Centre Lutheran Church and Walker Grange and was a former Juniata County School Board director. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, baseball, camping, and traveling with his family.
His funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday at Centre Lutheran Church with Rev. Louise Reynolds officiating. Interment was in the Thompsontown Lutheran Cemetery. Friends called 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Centre Lutheran Church, RR2 Box 165, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
