Benjamin W. "Ben" Wagner, 90, of Thompsontown, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at his home.

He is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Minnie E. (Nearhood) Wagner; three sons, Warren C. and wife, Connie A., David K. and wife, Debra M., and Robert "Bobby" E. and wife, Mary J.; one sister, Rachael Sauers and husband, Joseph; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Herbert and Amanda (Romig) Wagner; four sisters; and two brothers, Ada Bashore, Ruth Shank, John E. Wagner, Esther Ferrell, Paul Wagner, and Miriam Henry.

Ben graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1942 and served in the United states Army during the Korean War.

He worked as a farmer, a plumber, at PrecisionWare and retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he was the mail carrier for RR 1 Thompstown for many years. He attended First Baptist Church of Juniata County, and his family was very important to him.

He was a member of the Tri-County Barons, a group that flew radio-controlled model airplanes. He was an accomplished woodworker who made toys for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed being in the woods and cutting firewood. But the most important thing to him was his family. They traveled, camped, spent time in Florida, and had picnics and chicken barbecues at their own picnic woods, in addition to many other family activities.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the First Baptist Church of Juniata County, Mifflintown, with Pastor Ron Shupe and Pastor Phil Persing officiating. There will be no viewing and interment will be at the convenience of the family in Locust Run Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Juniata County, 23964 Rt. 35 North, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to Juniata Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 251, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
