EAST GALESBURG - Jerry D. Thompson, 53, East Galesburg, died at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011, at home.
He was born March 12, 1958, in Galesburg, the son of Arnold and Darlene Briggs Thompson. He married Mary E. Lufkin on Nov. 4, 1991, in East Galesburg.
Surviving are two sons, Jeremy (Lisa) Thompson of Galesburg and Shawn Thompson of East Galesburg; and four brothers, Jr. (Sharon) Thompson of Galesburg, Eugene (Floris) Briggs of Gilson, Don Thompson of Rock Island and Bill Thompson of Galesburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob Briggs and Jim Thompson; one sister, Carol Morris; and one nephew, Jim Thompson Jr.
He was raised and educated in the Maquon and Wataga areas.
He worked as a contractor for The Galesburg Register-Mail for 23 years.
Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services. Memorials may be made to the family. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
