Robert E. (Eddie) Ackerman, 69, of Rifle Range Road, Mount Pleasant, died Sunday at his home.
Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. at his home, with the Rev. W. E. Langford and the Rev. Ossie Williams officiating. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens, directed by Stuhr's.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph J. Sullivan, Felix C. Davis, Louis H. Baker, Wallace Bowen, Edward Infinger, and Washie Varner.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Morris, Samuel Morris, Robert Eddy, Thamon Sheleby, Beaufort Ackerman, and Cleavion Gaskin.
Mr. Ackerman was born March 29, 1895, in Berkeley County, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Samuel Ackerman.
He was a retired supervisor with General Asbestos and Rubber Co. of North Charleston.
Mr. Ackerman was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are: his widow, Mrs. Francis Cumbee Ackerman; three sons, Robert E. Ackerman and Howard O. Ackerman, both of North Charleston, and Daniel Ackerman of the USAF at Dyess, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. J. K. (Edna) Barrineau of Middlesboro, Ky., Mrs. Lorene Stephens of North Charelston, and Miss Janie Ackerman of Mount Pleasant; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Morris of Mount Pleasant; a brother, Ludie Ackerman of Bonneau; a half-sister, Miss Pauline Ackerman of McClellanville; a half-brother, Lawrence Ackerman of McClellanville, and eight grand-children.
