GATE CITY, Va. - Mrs. Lona Myrtle Smythe, 84, 119 Francis St., Helen Heights, Gate City, Va., died at Holston Valley Hospital & Medical Center at 5:50 p.m. Friday (Sept. 25,1987).
She was a lifelong resident of Scott County and attended First Baptist Church, Gate City, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Conley Barker Smythe, on Feb. 29,1984; a son, Hagan A. Smythe, in 1974; a sister, Mrs. Grover (Pearl) Lane; a brother, Thomas Heron.
Surviving are three sons, Jack D. Smythe, Nat A. Smythe, Carl W. Smythe, all of Gate City; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Callie Elizabeth Smith, Gate City, Va.; four brothers, Garland Heron, Robert ( Bob) Heron, Pat Heron and Delaney Heron, all of Gate City, Va.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home with Dr. Bob D. Lynch officiating.
Burial will be in Holston View Cemetery.
