Drove coal truck for the mines at Norton in the 50's. Had polio when he was 8. His son and grandson, my husband, had a virus like polio.

GROVER LANE
Appalachia- Grover S. Lane, 68, of Appalachia, was pronounced dead on arrival early Friday night at Lonesome Pine Hospital
He was a native of Scott County and a retired truck driver.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Jo Ann) Henry, Weber City, Mrs. Bill (Mary Ruth) Henderson, Bardstown, Ky.; three sons. Jackie C. Lane, Appalachia, Jimmy E. Lane, E. Providence, RI., Grover S. (Sam) Lane, Jr., Pound, Va.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Bruner and Mrs. Francis Johnson, both of Kingsport, Mrs. Janie Brown, Gate City.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Pearl Mae Lane, in January of 1979.
Friends may call from 7-9 tonight at Gate City Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow from Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home with the Rev. Dean Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Holston View Cemetery.
