KINGSPORT - Grace Leota Bruner, 88, formerly of Weber City, Va., departed this life late Wednesday evening (Jan. 23, 2002) at the Sunbridge Brookhaven Care and Rehabilitation.
A native of Scott County, Va., she had lived in Indianapolis, Ind., where she was matron for Indianapolis School Board. She also lived in Monterey, Tenn. before coming to Kingsport.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weber City, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Robert Bruner Sr.; a daughter, Dorothy Louise Cole; a son, Clarence Robert Bruner Jr.; parents, Worley C. Lane and Lona Rachael Penley Lane; brothers, Grover Lane and Hubert Lane.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Meretha and Leonard Durham, Monterey, Tenn.; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Darlene Bruner, Church Hill and Bill and Helen Bruner, Hartville, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janie Brown (Morrison City), Kingsport and Frances Johnson (Morrison City), Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Scott County Funeral Home Chapel, Weber City, Va., with Pastor Rick Vannoy officiating.
Music will be by the Lee Smith Singers.
Burial will be in Holston View Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
