1.) PIONEER CITIZEN PASSES AWAY
Andrew K. Anderson was born June 24, 1832, at Stavanger, Norway, and died June 9, 1921, aged 88 years, eleven months, and sixteen days.

He came to America in 1857 and was married to Inger Oiehaven at Mission, La Salle County, Illinois, on the 6th day of July 1857. To this union were born eight children, the first, a son, dying in infancy, the others are all living, Andrew, Mrs. Anna A. Dancer, David, Oscar and Nellie of Lamoni, Ia., Benjamin of Omaha, Nebr., and David of State College, Pennsylvania.

In his native land, he united with the Lutheran Church and remained a member of that church until March 17, 1862, when he was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, at Mission, Illinois, by Vance Jorgenson.

He was ordained to the office of teacher September 9, 1866, at Mission, Ill., by Thomas Hougas and Mad Madison, and diligently and wisely performed the duties of that office until within a few years of his death. It can be truly said he was faithful unto his trust until death.

They moved to Decatur County, Iowa, in the vicinity of Lamoni, Iowa, in March 1872, and have made their home near the town and in the town until the time of his death.

He was proceeded by his wife on February 14, 1921, and since that time he has expressed a wish and longed for the time when he could join her on the other side.

He leaves to mourn two daughters, five sons, twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral in charge of J. A. Gunsolly. Sermon by Frederick A. Smith. One of our pioneer citizens has been taken to his long rest. He has done his part well in the community and earned a place of honor in our memory of all those who knew hint.

2.) Mr. and Mrs. Andrew K. Anderson are some of the old settlers of this county having lived here since March 1872. They were both born near Stavanger, Norway and their acquaintance dates from childhood.

The birth of Mr. Anderson occurred on the 24th of June 1834 and that of his wife Mrs. Inger Anderson the 17th of January 1836.

In 1857 they both crossed to the new world, sailing on the same ship to Quebec. Later they both went to Chicago and on July 5, 1857 they were married in La Salle county, Illinois, where they lived for fifteen years, coming to this county in 1872.

He was a successful and industrious farmer for a long time, but twenty-three years ago this fall they retired and moved to Lamoni into the residence where they now reside.

When they came to this country it was only a raw prairie and they are among the few who worked and toiled and struggled to make our state a land of plenty and happiness.

Mr. Anderson is a director of the State Savings Bank of Lamoni and a man of much business ability. For six years he was a member of the town council and was school director for eleven years. Both are members of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints.

They are the parents of eight children: ANDREW, a resident of Lamoni, who in connection with his brother OSCAR, operates several hundred acres of land; he has one daughter, Wilma. Mrs. ANNA A. Dancer, who lives in Lamoni. She has two sons, David A. and Howard M. both of whom are students at the Iowa State University. DANIEL, who has been postmaster at Lamoni, for sixteen years, during which time the business of the office has increased two hundred per cent. He has two children, Helen, now Mrs. J. A. Willey, of Burlington, Iowa and A. Scott, a student in the State University of Iowa. BENJAMIN M. who is employed by the Carpenter Paper Company at Omaha, Nebraska. He is the father of four children, his eldest daughter, Mrs. Alferd Mimes having one daugther, which is the only great-grandchild in the family. Oscar, the Cashier of the State Savings Bank of this place, is married and has three children, Oscar Kelley, Richard Carroll and Margaret Belle. DAVID Anderson who is a member of the faculty of the State University of Washington. NELLIE M. who lives at home with her parents.

This esteemable and honored old couple are loved and highly respected by all who know them, both young and old. They have been an element for good and brought the spirit of "joy in living" to all with whom they have come in contact.
