1.) RESPECTED LAMONI CITIZEN DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
"Death Comes To Mrs. Anna D. Zimmermann At Her Home Here Wednesday Evening—Was Member Of One Of First Families To Settle Here—Came Here In 1872"
Lamoni lost one of Its most respected citizens as well as a member of one of the first families to settle in this part of the state of Iowa when Mrs. Anna D. Zimmermann passed away at her home here last Wednesday evening at seven o'clock.

Mrs. Zimmermann first came to Lamoni in 1872 when she was seven years old, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Anderson, and four brothers. Two more children were born to the Anderson family, a boy and a girl after settling near Lamoni.

The first break in this circle of children was made when Andrew Anderson, the oldest boy in the family, passed away at his home here, April 20 after an illness of several months.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Zimmermann has been one vitally interested in the welfare of others and did much for those in need. In all her acts of kindness, her greatest wish was that her name not be connected with the deed.

She became ill nearly two years ago and never completely regained her health. Last fall, after living for 14 years in Philadelphia, Pa., she returned to Lamoni to spend her last days. The complete obituary follows.

Anna Anderson, eldest daughter of Andrew K. and Inger Anderson was born September 30, 1864, near Norway, La Salle county, Ill. In March 1872, she came with her parents and brothers to Iowa, settling on a farm near Lamoni, where she spent the years of her girlhood and womanhood, with the exception of a fourteen years residence in Philadelphia, Pa.

On November 20, 1895, she became the wife of Mr. David Dancer, an early and influential pioneer of southern Iowa. His passing, October 23, 1898, left her with two small sons, to whose rearing and education, she devoted the succeeding years.

After their maturity and the establishment of their own homes, she married, in the fall of 1922, Bishop John Zimmermann, of Philadelphia. Removing to that city, she presided over his home, becoming a devoted mother to his family of six children, three of whom were then still unmarried.

Following Mr. Zimmermann's death, on May 23 of last year, Mrs. Zimmermann, herself an invalid, returned to Lamoni and reestablished her home here. In this move, she was accompanied by her only sister, Miss Nellie M. Anderson, who has been her constant companion for the past two years.

On Wednesday evening, July 7, 1937, surrounded by children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, devoted nurse and faithful physician, Mrs. Zimmermann passed away, leaving to cherish the memory of a noble woman, and a host of loving friends. Her life was a most exemplary one. given to good works performed without ostentation or display.

Surviving are her two sons David A. Dancer of Lamoni and Howard M. Dancer of Chicago; her six granddaughters, Jane, Alice, and Joan Dancer of Lamoni, and Marilyn, Louise, and Betsy Dancer of Chicago; Mr. Zimmermann's six sons and daughters together with 22 grandchildren, all of Philadelphia.

Also surviving are her sister Nellie M. Anderson; her brothers Daniel and Oscar Anderson and their families of Lamoni, Benjamin M. of Omaha, David A. of Minneapolis; and the family of her brother, Andrew Anderson, who passed away nine weeks ago.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, July 10, 1937, at 10 o'clock at the White Funeral Home in charge of Rev. D. B. Sorden and Bishop T. A. Beck. Rev. John F. Garver read the sermon. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Wanda Derry, Mrs. Linna T. Hunt, Eugene Oliver, and Glen Allen. Mrs. Hunt also sang a solo.

In attendance at the service from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dancer and family from Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Anderson from Omaha, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Anderson from Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs, Elvin K. Luff, Independence, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Norman E. Prucha, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. John Zimmermann, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Kelley, Philadelphia, Pa.; Miss Margaret Anderson, Iowa City, Iowa; Miss Wilma Anderson and Mrs. Scott Anderson and daughter, Des Moines, Iowa.
