Daniel C. Shaner died at his home, 301 Coleman street, at one o’clock this morning after an illness of long duration. Mr. Shaner was born on September 19, 1851 and has been a resident of this city for many years. He was employed as an oil treater at the Vacuum Oil works and was a member of the Twenty year Club and the Gargoyle Club of the Vacuum Company. Mr. Shaner was also a member of the Olean Lodge, No. 171, I. O. O. F. and of the First Methodist church. Besides his wife, Lina, he is survived by three sons, Frank of Warren, Clifford of New Kensington, Pa.; Clarence of Los Angeles, Calif; five daughters, Mrs. Floyd Dillinger of Los Angles, Calif.; Mrs. Frank Webster, Painted Post; Mrs. Clyde Hogan, Bradford; Mrs. Walter Kaiser, Olean; Mrs. Frank Cook, Olean and two brothers, Floyd P. Shaner of Cleveland and A. Shaner of Sharpsville, Pa. Funeral services will be held at the home on Wednesday afternoon at two thirty o’clock with the Rev. C. C. Shedd, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. View cemetery.
