Funeral services for Clifford W. Shaner, native of Olean, who died Saturday night (June 5, 1943), were held Tuesday afternoon (June 8), at two-thirty o’clock at his late home in New Kensington, Pa. The Rev. W. P. Russell, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of New Kensington, officiated. Burial was in Plum Creek Cemetery.

At the time of his death he was employed as inspector in the Cooking Utensil division of Aluminum Company of America. He was a World War I veteran, overseas for thirteen months, during which time he saw action in the battles of St. Mihiel, Argonne and Touloun. He received several citations and awards for gallantry and service in the war. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of New Kensington.

His survivors include his widow, Mrs. Bessie McDonald Shaner; two brothers, Frank Shaner, Texas; Clarence Shaner, Tennessee; four sisters, Mrs. W. C. Hogan, Bradford; Mrs. Floyd E. Dellinger, Los Angles, Calif.; Mrs. Frank Webster, Painted Post and Mrs. Walter Kaiser, Columbus, O.

Clifford W. Shaner of Akron, Ohio, entered service 5/27/1918 and was honorably discharged as a Private on 8/18/1919. He served with Company C., 59th Infantry to discharge.
