Obit: Rev. Rulien, Pastor Here 45 Years, Dies
Rev. Joseph P. Rulien, 89, of 840 Market St., resident of Eau Claire the past 70 years, died at Sacred Heart hospital at 3 a.m. Sunday after a short illness.
Rev. Rulien was born in Sweden Oct. 25, 1863, and came to this country...when 19 years of age. He was employed as a filer at the J. H. Kaiser Lumber Company for 35 years, and later became a pastor of the Apostolic faith. He served as pastor of the Eau Claire Pentecostal Assembly the past 45 years.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Della Rulien, six sons, Fred, Jacksonville, Fla., Richard, Paul and Werner, all of Chicago, Carl, of Hudson and Laverne (Lawrence), Eau Claire, two daughters, Mrs. Arnold Hatch, Mt. Prospect, Ill., and Mrs. Lloyd Dascher, Eau Claire, three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Ohlson, St. Paul, Mrs. Anna Tholen, Little Falls, Minn., and Mrs. Ericka Shern, San Diego, Calif., one brother, Andrew, Tacoma, Wash., 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Pentecostal church on Ninth Ave., the Rev. Robert Martin, Minneapolis, officiating. Interment will be at Lake View cemetery.
Friends may call at Stokes and Sons Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday until 10 a.m. and at the Pentecostal church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the services. (Source: Eau Claire Leader, December 22, 1952)
