Carl W. Rulien was born on February 27, 1901 in Hudson, Wisconsin to Joseph and Emma (Johanson) Rulien. As an infant he moved to Muscatine, Iowa, and then to Eau Claire where his father was a minister at the Pentecostal church.
On Sept. 23, 1922 he was united in marriage to Mildred Ulry at St. Paul, Minnesota.
In 1940 they moved to Hudson and began the Rulien Office Machine company.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran church. Much of his life was spent in travel for business and pleasure.
Carl passed away on February 19, 1969, in Hudson. He was survived by his wife Mildred of Hudson; three daughters; two sisters and two brothers; as well as seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 21, at Bethel Lutheran Church with Rev. N. P. Scheide officiating. Burial was in River Willow Cemetery in Hudson.
