Ruby G. Booe, 89, Joplin, went home to the Lord on June 15, 2000, in a Joplin assisted living facility.

Ruby was born April 7, 1911, in the Spring Grove Community near Galena, Kan. She was the second daughter of John Leroy and Maude Mae (Merrill) Pigg.

In June 1932, Rev. and Mrs. Dow Booe became Senior Pastors of the First Gospel Workers Church in Joplin. They continued living in Galena until 1952, when they moved to Joplin.

Ruby helped her husband with the pastoral duties, serving as Sunday School Secretary, leader of the ladies group, transporting many people to church, counseling church members through the Depression, wars, family deaths, and coordinated church weddings.

During church building programs, Ruby lead many women in rummage sales, doughnut sales, church dinners and bazaars to help the church pay for expansion, remodeling, and new construction.

In the 1950's she served as Secretary to the Pentecostal Ladies Auxiliary an arm of The Pentecostal Church of God.
