She was born June 7, 1931 in Goodrich, Kan., the daughter of Harley and Ruth (Wertz) Howery.
On Aug. 29, 1954, she married Fredrick L. Jones. He preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Tipton High School and had worked as a bookkeeper for Carney's Drug Store before she became a tax practitioner for many years.
She enjoyed spending time on genealogy.
She is survived by three sons, Phil W. Jones of North Vernon, Dale P. Jones of Salem, Ore. and Michael L. Jones of Fishers; a daughter, Catherine L. Jones of North Vernon; three brothers, Alfred Howery of Tipton, Eldon Howery of Joplin, Mo. and David Howery, Crofton, Ky.; four sisters, Letha Hendershot of Muncie, Fern Heilman of Onalaska, Texas, Linda Hudson of Tipton; and Lois Grose of Tipton; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Deidel and a brother, Larry Howery.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 3021 W. St. Rd. 28 in Tipton. The Rev. Keith Moreen will be officiating. Burial will be at Tipton's Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., also at the church.
