Ruth was the Daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Martha (Irvin) Wurtz , and Loving wife of William Harley Howery. She is also a twin of a Brother, whose name was Roy A. Wurtz. She farmed with her husband on a farm in Linn Co. Kansas that was called Cocklebur Hill, riding a plow pulled by horses, and milking cows. She is a Mother of nine Children, Four Boys and Five Girls. and the names of these children are, Alfred Eugene Howery, Louise Christine Howery (Jones), Letha Mae Howery (Manlove)-(Hendershot), Lela Fern Howery (Holloway)-(Heilman), Eldon Leroy Howery, Linda H. Howery (Hudson), David Harley Howery, Larry William Howery, and Lois Elaine Howery (Grose). Ruth moved with her husband Harley and Eight of the Children in 1947 to Tipton, Indiana. She took in washing and ironing to help with the income of her Husband. She washed with a ringer type washing machine and would not give it up when the automatic machines came in style. Long after the Children were grown, she finally bought a new automatic washing machine. Before retiring she worked with her Husband as custodian at the Farmers Loan and Trust Co. in Tipton, Indiana.
