STANFORD — Bessie Allen, 69, of Stanford died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Oct. 20, 1941, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Holly Ray Bastin and Ethel Robinson Bastin. She was the widow of Robert Lee Allen. She had worked at Palm Beach; had retired as a Walmart associate, having worked in Danville and Stanford; and was a waitress by heart, having worked at Jerry's in Danville and the Dix River Country Club. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Frank Allen (Beth) of Stanford; a daughter, Elaine Sebastian (Philip) of Stanford; four granddaughters, Amanda Mgbodille (Anthony), Abby Sebastian, Allie Sebastian and Haley Leeann Allen; two brothers, Sam Bastin and Donald Berry, both of Stanford; two sisters, Dean Andind of Raleigh, Miss., and Ann Endress of College Corner, Ind.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Spurlin Funeral Home. The Rev. Lewis Walter will officiate.
Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
