Bertie A. Westberry - SAVANNAH - Bertie Aneese "Ann" Dixon Westberry, 97, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of James Ray Westberry, Sr., died Monday afternoon, April 4, 2011, at Cartersville Medical Center. Mrs. Westberry was born in Stilson, Georgia. She was a lifelong member of Bull Street Baptist Church and the Pilot Sunday School Class. She worked for several years at Union Camp in the Multiwall Factory. During World War II she delivered telegrams and was a welder at the Southeastern Ship Yard in Savannah and worked on the Liberty Ships during the War. Mrs. Westberry loved to cook and at one time owned her own restaurant in Savannah called Westberry's Sandwiches. Surviving are three daughters, Margaret Helmly and her husband, Hugh, of Savannah, Georgia, Olive Conlin and her husband, George, of Cartersville, Georgia, Wanda Westberry of Cartersville, Georgia; one son, James Ray Westberry, Jr. and his wife, Mary Kathryn, of Savannah, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren, twenty four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue. Funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at Bull Street Baptist Church conducted by The Reverend Earnie T. Pirkle and The Reverend William E. Gardner.
